BME Engineering Residential Application Form
Applications for this event have now closed.
The University of Cambridge’s Department of Engineering and Magdalene College will be running an Engineering residential for state school students currently in Year 12 (or equivalent), who identify themselves as BME (Black and Minority Ethnic), in August 2019. The residential is a fantastic opportunity to experience living and studying at a top university.
The residential will run from 11am on Monday 19 August until 3pm on Wednesday 21 August.
The residential is free to attend. Attendees will be provided with accommodation and food for the duration of the residential at no charge alongside all academic sessions.
To apply for a place please complete and submit the application form below. Please answer all questions honestly and in as much detail as possible.
The closing date for applications is 11.59pm on Tuesday 25 June 2019, after which no further applications will be considered.
Applications will require the support of a current teacher who will be contacted after the student application has been submitted.
Applicants will be notified by email if an application has been successful (or not), please make sure that you provide a correct and valid email address.
Completing the application form will not guarantee a residential place. Places will be allocated by a number of criteria. Priority will be given to those BME applicants from state schools on the basis of their grades, and future grade potential, and on the basis of selected standard means by which the Cambridge University’s Admissions Office advise us to assess academic and social deprivation. Due to likely oversubscription we regret that not all applications will be successful.
Applications for this residential will have no influence on any future application to Magdalene College or the University of Cambridge as a whole.
It may be possible to pay reasonable transport costs for students successful in being offered a place on this residential event.
It is extremely important to us that no student should feel prevented from participating in the residential or any activities as part of the residential for financial reasons. Please contact the Schools Liaison Officer if this is a concern.
If you have any questions regarding the residential, please contact the Schools Liaison Officer at access@magd.cam.ac.uk.
