Alumni Benefits
Magdalene provides many benefits for its fantastic alumni community.
Visiting Magdalene
The College is closed to all visitors and non-resident Members from Monday 24 April until Saturday 17 June for the Easter Term exam period.
Members wishing to visit the College are asked to check in at the Porters Lodge upon arrival.
Magdalene Members are always welcome in College outside of the Easter Exam Term. Alumni are welcome to bring their families to walk around the gardens, visit the Chapel and the Pepys Library.
Please note it is not possible to visit the New Library during full term without notifying the Alumni and Development Office in advance. You can find more information on visiting the New library in the section below.
Do drop into the Alumni and Development Office in Mallory A if you have the time, we are always delighted to see Members!
Visiting The New Library
The New Library is a source of great pride for the College and alumni are understandably interested in visiting this lovely new building. We do however have to be mindful that the College Library is a quiet study space in constant use by our students and we thus hope you will appreciate that we have to limit access in order to maintain a safe and quiet environment.
Visits to the New Library are of course possible but subject to the following parameters:
Out of term: July to September and December to mid-January
Members can arrange visits Monday-Friday, 10.00am-4.00pm. Your visit must be arranged in advance, with a minimum of 2 working days’ notice.
Michaelmas and Lent Terms: October – November and mid-January to March
Members can arrange to visit, Monday-Friday 10.00am - 12.00pm and 2.00pm - 4.00pm dependent on staff availability (as visits must be accompanied). It is not possible for groups to visit, and alumni visiting during term are limited to 2 people maximum.
Easter Term and Easter Vacation: April – June
The New Library is closed to all non-resident Members due to examinations taking place.
If you would like to visit the New Library, please email alumni@magd.cam.ac.uk to make a booking.
Members of the public wishing to visit the New Library should contact new-library-access@magd.cam.ac.uk.
