The Chapel is at the heart of the College. All are welcome to this beautiful place, now in its 55th decade, to sit and pray, or just to seek some quiet amid its peace.
The Chapel is a living place that brings the College community together in reflection and offers Christian worship and prayer open to all. Chapel services and events offer space for belonging, beauty, enquiry and growth and are inclusive, open to all of any faith or perspective.
The College is pleased to welcome members of the public to Sunday and weekday services – please just turn up. (Chaplaincy events and discussions listed in the Term Card are for Magdalene Members only.)
About the Chapel
Built in the 1470s, the Chapel embodies Magdalene's rich heritage, our patron saint's life is depicted in the East Window, while memorials commemorate missionaries, church leaders, teachers, and those who gave their lives in conflict.
Dean of Chapel
The Dean of Chapel, Reverend Sarah Atkins, is available to talk to any Member of the College community on any matter, personal, practical, or spiritual. Sarah is happy to hear from Members who would like to assist by reading lessons, leading prayers, or serving as a Chapel Officer.
There is an extensive programme of worship in the College Chapel with many interesting and varied speakers throughout the College term. Find out what is going on this term in the Chapel and Discover what events and music recitals are taking place.
The Magdalene College Choir sing Choral Evensong twice a week in Chapel as well as at prestigious College events and special occasions. The choir go on tour every summer and regularly sing in cathedrals, and for services and events across the UK.
Garde ta foy, keep the faith, may be our motto, but faith looks different for many of our members. Students, staff and Fellows come from different faith and belief backgrounds.
