Sports, Music and Drama

Life at Magdalene is about much more than academic study.

The College offers a wealth of extra-curricular opportunities, whether in sports, music, drama, or student-led societies. These activities provide a fantastic way to meet new people, develop skills, and take a break from academic work.

Sports enthusiasts will find plenty to get involved in, from rowing on the Cam with the Magdalene Boat Club to using the College gym or playing fields. Students can join and play in College sports teams, including football, rugby, netball, badminton, and many more. Whether you’re looking for casual participation or competitive team sports, there are opportunities at every level. Across Cambridge, sports can be played for recreational fun or at a serious competitive level, with many students going on to represent the University in their chosen discipline.

Music plays a key role in College life, with an active College Choir, performance opportunities for instrumentalists and singers, and regular concerts held by the Magdale Music Society. Drama lovers can take part in productions staged in College or join one of the many University drama societies.

For those with an interest in the visual arts, The Robert Cripps Gallery hosts regular exhibitions and forms a key part of the award-winning New Library. This purpose-built space provides Magdalene students with an inspiring environment to meet, work, relax, and find inspiration.

With so many opportunities available within College and across the wider University, there is something for everyone, whether you're continuing a long-standing passion or trying something completely new.
