Sports Facilities

Magdalene students share outdoor sports facilities with St John’s College, just a short walk away. These include large playing fields, astroturf, and hard courts, providing space for football, rugby, cricket, netball, and Ultimate Frisbee.

For indoor fitness, Magdalene offers:

  • A small gym at Cripps Court, equipped with rowing machines, treadmills, and cardio equipment.
  • A free weights gym in the Lutyens Building, ideal for strength training.
  • A squash court in Mallory Court.
  • Cambridge’s only College-owned Eton Fives court, a rare opportunity to play this historic handball game.

Rowing at Magdalene

Rowing is a major part of Magdalene’s sporting tradition. The Magdalene Boat Club welcomes students of all abilities, from first-time rowers to seasoned competitors. Based just minutes from the College, the Club shares boat house and training facilities with Queen’s College, including ergometers, weights, and changing rooms.
