Update: College Statement on 2020 A-Level Results

We at Magdalene are delighted and relieved that, in the light of yesterday’s announcement from Ofqual, we are able to honour the offers made to those whose adjusted grades now mean that they have met the conditions of their offer. We are in touch with all offer-holders whose position is affected by this announcement; and we are greatly looking forward to welcoming them to Cambridge. At the moment, those involved in admissions across the university are gathering the last pieces of relevant information needed to formalise arrangements with offer-holders (including determining any need to request volunteers for deferral to 2021 in a small number of subjects), and this work should be finished very shortly.

We are very keenly aware of the stress that has been experienced in the last few days by offer-holders and by their families and teachers, and we are deeply grateful for the patience and grace they have shown in the very trying circumstances. Our sincerest congratulations to all who have secured their places here at Magdalene in this most unusual of admission rounds. We hope that you will find our community all that you expect in terms of academic stimulus and human warmth.

The University has this afternoon published a statement outlining the next steps in the process, which may be accessed here.
