Since 1900, Magdalene College has held an annual dinner to celebrate the birthday of Samuel Pepys, one of our most notable alumni.

We are delighted to invite members of the Fellowship, members of the Master's Guild and the Pepys Circle, and Pepysian guests, to the Pepys Dinner on Saturday 24 February 2024 in honour of Samuel Pepys’ birthday.

This will be a special year as 2024 marks the 300th anniversary of the Pepys Library coming to Magdalene, and we are therefore delighted to offer an enhanced programme for this year:

  • 2.00-4.00pm: The Pepys Library will be open, with a special display of Pepys' medieval manuscripts
  • 4.15pm: Lecture: The Pepys Building: A Conversation. Join three distinguished guest speakers in the Cripps Auditorium as they discuss the Pepys Library. Followed by tea and coffee.
  • 6.15pm: Evensong in Chapel
  • 6.45pm: Drinks Reception in the Robert Cripps Gallery, the New Library
  • 7.30pm: Dinner in Hall, concluding with a short Pepysian entertainment
  • 11.00pm: Carriages
