What we are looking for
We assess each application individually, and look for different things in different people for different courses. We are looking for the students who have academic ability and potential and who will flourish in the Cambridge academic environment.
Dates and deadlines
Are you thinking of applying to Magdalene? This page contains all of the useful dates and deadlines in the application timetable. The application deadline for 2021 entry is the 15 October 2020, 6:00pm (UK time).
Before making an application, you need to check that you have, or are likely to achieve, the right grades in the right subjects for the course you would like to study. Cambridge requires top grades in the highest level qualifications.
Submitting Written Work
For some courses you may be required to submit examples of your written work from a relevant A Level (or equivalent) course. The work you submit may form part of the discussions at your interview.
Most applicants are required to take a subject-specific written admission assessment, either pre-interview or at interview. Written assessments are designed to supplement the information in your application and provide a gauge of your abilities.
Interviews help us to assess your application. Applicants invariably feel nervous about interviews, our interviewers try their best to help applicants to relax as we want the interviews to provide you with an opportunity to show yourself at your best.
If there are extenuating circumstances that may have caused significant educational disruption and could have affected your application, it may be appropriate for your school or college referee to complete the Extenuating Circumstances Form.
