A Path in Science
Dr Adrian Baez-Ortega is a Nevile Research Fellow in Biological Sciences at Magdalene and a postdoctoral researcher at the Wellcome Sanger Institute. His doctoral work won the 2021 Science & SciLifeLab Prize.
The College is delighted to announce that James Potter has been appointed as our new Director of Music and Precentor. He will begin in September, ready to welcome students for the new year.

Dr Allègre Hadida awarded Cambridge Judge Excellence in Teaching Award
Dr Allègre Hadida, Magdalene Fellow and Director of Studies in Management Studies, has received a Cambridge Judge Excellence in Teaching Award for her outstanding contribution to education.
New Library wins Royal Institute of British Architects National Award
The New Library has been announced as one of the winners of The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) National Awards 2022. RIBA has recognised outstanding architecture for over 180 years.
Thank you to all who donated to Magdalene Giving Day. Together, we raised over £155,000 for Student Welfare, Mental Health, Bursaries, Postgraduate Support, and College Activities.
New Library wins Royal Institute of British Architects East Award
The New Library has won a RIBA East Award. Judges praised the design, calling it "a deft and inspiring temple to learning." Dr Marcus Waithe, College Librarian, expressed delight in the recognition.
Professor Paul Dupree awarded Advanced Grant from the European Research Council
Magdalene’s Postgraduate Tutor, Professor Paul Dupree (1996), has been awarded an ERC Advanced Grant to study plant carbohydrates, aiming to replace fossil fuels and plastics with renewable alternatives.
Magdalene celebrates two ornithologists: Newton, a pioneer of bird conservation, and Lack, who revolutionised ornithology by studying bird behaviour and ecology in the wild.
