The Pepys Restoration Project

In 2024, we celebrated 300 years since the arrival of the Pepys Library at Magdalene.

To preserve this historic collection and enhance accessibility, the College completed a major restoration of the Grade I listed Pepys Building. The project has delivered a new roof, upgraded wiring and heating systems, improved accessibility, and new facilities for teaching, learning and research.

The restored building now houses the Academic Office (Tutorial and Admissions teams), provides new supervision and teaching spaces, and offers dedicated facilities for researchers from around the world studying the extraordinary volumes of the Pepys Library.

This landmark project was made possible through the generosity of Members, Friends and benefactors. We are deeply grateful for their support in helping secure the future of this remarkable building and collection. We look forward to the official opening of the restored building in early 2027 and to celebrating this achievement with the supporters who have helped make it possible.
