How to apply to Magdalene
How to Apply
Key information on how to apply to Magdalene.
Applying to Magdalene is straightforward, but it is important to understand each stage and meet all deadlines.
Your UCAS Application
Cambridge is a collegiate university, which means that all students are members of both a College and the University. Applications to Cambridge are handled by individual Colleges, and applications are made online via UCAS.
When applying to Cambridge, applicants use a Campus Code to nominate their chosen College. To apply directly to Magdalene, use UCAS Campus Code 'M'.
To apply to Magdalene, your UCAS application must be submitted by 6 pm (UK time) on 15 October. This deadline is strict, and no late applications can be accepted.
Note that you can only submit your application once your chosen referee has added a reference to it, so you will need to ensure your referee has time to do this before the deadline.

Extenuating Circumstances
We understand that unexpected challenges can significantly impact any student’s education. If you have faced difficulties that have recently affected your studies, please let us know. This allows us to consider your unique circumstances during the admissions process.
Where possible, extenuating circumstances should be declared by your teacher in your UCAS reference. If information about your extenuating circumstances cannot be given in the UCAS reference or if your school or college is unaware of your circumstances, you should ask a relevant professional (e.g. a doctor or care worker) to contact us. An email template is provided for them to use.
More information, including examples of extenuating circumstances, can be found on the University website.
We encourage both applicants and their school or college referees to share relevant information. Any information not shared on your UCAS form should be submitted by 22 October.
Declaring qualifications
Please note that it is compulsory to declare all achieved qualifications at the point of application. This includes, for example:
- results for public exams in all subjects that you have studied at school, whether compulsory or optional;
- results for public exams in all subjects that you have self-studied;
- all STEP Mathematics results, regardless of which course you are applying for;
- results for English language tests (e.g. IELTS);
- all previous results in subjects where you have retaken exams or entered for multiple sittings;
- all previous results, even if they are lower than expected;
- the date each module was taken (for modular qualifications such as Pearson International A Levels);
- if you are already studying at another university.
Failure to declare a qualification or examination sitting may be a breach of the agreement you make when submitting your My Cambridge Application, and also a breach of our Terms of Admission. You must tell us when you are planning to sit exams for each of qualifications, including each sitting where relevant.
If the information provided by you in relation to your qualifications is later found to be incomplete or inaccurate, your application may be withdrawn and any offer may be cancelled.
