Visits to Schools

Magdalene’s Schools Liaison Officer visits state schools in Merseyside, North Wales, the Isle of Man, and Cambridgeshire, offering talks and workshops for Year 10–13 students.

Teachers in these areas can request a visit by emailing access@magd.cam.ac.uk. To make the most of travel time, visits are usually grouped over several days, so flexibility with dates is appreciated.

Most visits last between 45 minutes and 2 hours and can be tailored to your group’s needs. Sessions cover topics such as post-16 subject choices, university options, an introduction to Cambridge and Oxford, and the application process, including interactive workshops on personal statements and interviews.

For multiple year groups, we recommend separate talks for Year 10/11, Year 12, and Year 13, which can be scheduled back-to-back on the same day if needed.

To reach as many school groups as possible, the Schools Liaison Officer often runs ‘hub’ events, where a few schools host sessions and invite nearby schools to take part. To keep these events effective and engaging, schools may need to select a small group of students who would benefit most.

The Schools Liaison Officer will need a room with a projector and screen. Please ensure the space is large enough to comfortably and safely accommodate all attendees.
