Professor Martin Snead is a College Lecturer in Clinical Medicine at Magdalene.

Professor Martin Snead has a special interest in all aspects of retinal and vitreous surgery, with particular focus on retinal detachment repair, ocular trauma, macular surgery, the management of severe late complications of proliferative diabetic retinopathy, and surgery for complications following cataract surgery.

He is Director of Vitreoretinal Research at Cambridge University, where he investigates the molecular pathology of retinal detachment, especially in bilateral and familial retinal detachment and the Stickler syndromes (www.vitreoretinalservice.org). He also serves as the service lead for the NHS England nationally commissioned Highly Specialised Services diagnostic service for patients and families affected by this disorder (www.specialisedservices.nhs.uk).

In addition, he is a panel member of the NHS England Rare Diseases Advisory Group (RDAG).
