Professor Eamon Duffy FBA awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws

Congratulations to Magdalene Emeritus Fellow Professor Eamon Duffy FBA (1979) on being awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws by the University of Notre Dame at its 2026 Commencement.

This honour recognises his outstanding contribution to the history of Christianity, particularly his influential scholarship on late medieval and Reformation England. As emeritus professor of the History of Christianity at the University of Cambridge and former president of Magdalene College, his work has reshaped understanding of English Catholic life and continues to inform both academic and public discussion.

Professor Duffy will receive the award on 17 May 2026 at the University of Notre Dame London Centre, with the ceremony linked live by Zoom to Notre Dame Stadium as part of the University’s Commencement celebrations that day.
