Tutors

Every student is assigned a College Tutor who is their first point of contact for advice, support, and guidance.

At Magdalene, every student is assigned a College Tutor, a dedicated point of contact for guidance, support, and reassurance throughout their time at College. Tutors come from different academic departments than their tutees, ensuring unbiased advice and a fresh perspective. Their role is to be a trusted advocate, offering help with academic challenges, personal concerns, financial issues, and accommodation matters.

Tutors hold weekly drop-in sessions during the term, creating a welcoming space for students to seek advice. Support isn’t limited to these times; students can contact their Tutor at any point to arrange a meeting. Undergraduate students meet their Tutor at the end of each term, but many check in more frequently for guidance or simply for a conversation with someone who has their best interests at heart.

If your Tutor is unavailable, or you would prefer to speak with someone else, you are always welcome to contact another member of the team. Magdalene also has a dedicated pastoral team, including the Head of Student Health & Wellbeing, Chaplain, and members of the Academic Office, all working together to ensure students can access help whenever they need it.
