Maintenance Operative
40 hours per week
£23,032 to £25,000 per year
The College seeks to appoint a Maintenance Operative to assist the small in-house team of tradespeople (plumber, electrician, carpenter, and painter) in providing day-to-day maintenance services to College buildings.
The post holder will work as part of a team to provide skilled maintenance assistance to all members of the College and to ensure that maintenance and repairs to the College properties are always completed to a high standard. The Maintenance Operative will have specific responsibility for assisting in the monitoring and maintenance of our buildings and systems, promoting a culture of safe working practices across the College.
Candidates should ideally have working knowledge of a building trade – electrical, mechanical, carpentry or decoration as well as an NVQ Level 2. You should have experience of general maintenance including minor plumbing and electrical work and knowledge of basic building construction and decorating techniques along with knowledge of safe working practices. Candidates should have should be motivated and have the ability to work productively alone, as well as part of the team.
The position is full-time, 40 hours a week, and attracts a salary of £ 23,032 to £25,000 p.a. and excellent benefits including a contributory pension scheme, lunch when in college, 33 days holiday (including bank holidays), and the use of sports facilities.

Sous Chef
Full time (40 hours a week)
£32,000 to £35,000 per annum
Magdalene College is looking for an experienced Chef to work as a Sous Chef in our team of catering staff. The Catering Team is responsible for the production of food for students, Fellows, staff and guests. The Sous Chef will assist the Head Chef in ensuring the smooth, efficient and economical running of the department; maintain an adequate supply of products under your control; ensure high quality in food production; follow all standards and procedures issued by the College and ensure budgeted Gross Profit is achieved.
We would like to hear from candidates with previous experience in a Sous Chef or Junior Sous Chef role preferably within a formal or fine dining environment who have excellent cooking skills, the ability to multitask and the ability to work under pressure. The post holder will need to be able to work as part of a team in a senior role.
This is a full time role working 40 hours a week. The post attracts a salary of £32,000 to £35,000 p.a. depending on experience and excellent benefits including:

Chef de Partie
Full time (40 hours a week)
Up to £29,000 per annum
Magdalene College is looking for an experienced Chef to work as a Chef de Partie in our team of catering staff. The Catering Team is responsible for the production of food for students, Fellows, staff and guests and the Chef de Parties are responsible for initiating and overseeing the production of all meals during the shift, ensuring a high standard of customer service.
We would like to hear from candidates with previous experience in a Demi or Chef De Partie role, preferably within a formal or fine dining environment who have excellent cooking skills, the ability to multitask and the ability to work under pressure.
This is a full time role working 40 hours a week. The post attracts a salary of up to £29,000 p.a. and excellent benefits including:

- free lunch when in College
- 33 days holiday (including bank holidays)
- the use of sports facilities
