There are some other forms and information which we now need from you and which you should send at your earliest convenience, and in any event by the deadline listed. Please do read this page carefully and make sure that we have all the information necessary to process your application by the dates stated.
**Email correspondence from us may be classed by your email server as being spam. Please check your junk emails regularly**
If you are applying for a subject with a Pre-interview Assessment (including BMAT), you will already have registered for this. These will take place on 4 November 2020.
For more information please see the Pre-interview Assessments page on the Undergraduate Study website.
If you wish to make us aware of any Extenuating Circumstances you will need to ask your school/college referee (or doctor/social worker) to complete an Extenuating Circumstances Form (ECF) on your behalf. This will usually need to be submitted by the same deadline as your SAQ, 22 October.
Please see the Extenuating Circumstances page for more information.
Additional Written Work
Some courses require additional school written work to be submitted as part of your application. Please check if your subject requires Additional Written Work.
If you are required to submit Additional Written Work it should be sent to arrive at the College by 6 November.
Written work can be submitted to the Academic Office via email (preferable) at email@example.com, or by post.
All submitted written work needs to be accompanied by a completed Cover Sheet available at the bottom of this page.
Feedback and Confidentiality Form
In order for us to process your application, it is essential that all applicants sign and return the Feedback and Confidentiality Form (FCF), either by post or email attachment, by 15 November.
If you are taking modular AS and A levels, please send us evidence, such as Statements of Results issued by examination boards, of any Uniform Mark Scale (UMS) marks already achieved, either by post or email attachment, by 15 November.
Applicants with a Disability
If you have registered a disability (including dyslexia, dyspraxia or any unseen disability) on your application it is important that you read the letter below and return the form by 15 November.
Invitations to Interview
If you have applied for an interview in Cambridge then you will hear whether or not you have been selected for interview by mid-November. We will send you information then about the timings and arrangements for your interview.
The majority of interviews at Magdalene College this year will take place in the first three weeks of December.
Interviewing scheduling is a very complicated procedure and takes some time. We will endeavour to write in mid-November to those invited for an interview to confirm the details. This notification will be sent by email. If there are particular days on which you cannot attend for interview for strong reasons (e.g. hospital appointment, examination, or religious grounds) please let us know as soon as possible. Whilst we are sympathetic to applicants who may be involved in school concerts or drama activities in this period, we regret that we are unable to reschedule interviews on such grounds. Once interviews are scheduled it will not be possible to change arrangements.
If you are travelling from overseas and are likely to require a visa for your interview, please see the advice on the International Students website. It is important that you apply for your visa immediately when you hear about the date and time of your interviews.
If you have applied for interviews in China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Canada, or India, different arrangements apply. For further information please see the International Applicants page.
Candidates not Selected for Interview
If you are not called for an interview then you will be informed of this by mid-November. You may ask for feedback on the reasons for our decision, and the means of doing so will be outlined in the letter we send you. Please note that feedback letters may not be sent out until March or April 2020.
After your interviews, you will not hear any more from us until the New Year. If we have been unable to find a place for you at Magdalene but consider your application strong enough to be placed in the Winter Pool, then it is possible that you may be invited by another College for a further interview early in January. The Winter Pool interviews are likely to take place on TBC January.
All other applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application on or shortly after TBC January 2020. Applicants called for interview after the Winter Pool may hear at the same time, or a few days later. If you have heard nothing about the outcome of your application by 21 January, you should contact the Academic Office.
