International Postgraduate Students

Magdalene is a thoroughly international community and we are keen to attract the brightest and best postgraduate students from across the globe to join us.

More than half of our current postgraduate community have come to Magdalene from outside the UK, and across the University of Cambridge as a whole there are close to 8000 international students from more than 120 countries.

We are fortunate at Magdalene to have a range of scholarships and bursaries for postgraduate students, and a number of these are for students from specific countries or parts of the world. These include (although are not limited to) a range of scholarships for students from countries in southern Africa, and partnership funds available to applicants from countries in southeast Asia and North America.

Magdalene is also one of just four Cambridge Colleges able to recommend eligible students from southeast Asia for consideration for postgraduate funding from the Jardine Foundation.

Please see the Postgraduate Scholarships and Bursaries page for more detail about the range of scholarships and bursaries available for postgraduate study at Magdalene, and how to apply for them.

A wealth of additional information about studying at Cambridge as an international postgraduate student, as well as practical advice about issues such as visas, and academic qualifications, can be found of the Cambridge International Students website as well as on the website of the Postgraduate Admissions Office.

For new international postgraduate students arriving at Magdalene, we provide a range of welcome events and orientation activities to help you to settle into the College quickly and comfortably. Many of these are organised by the Middle Combination Room (MCR), the College's central society run specifically for and by our postgraduate students. A wide range of additional welcome events and support is provided by academic departments, the University's International Students Office, and the Graduate Union.
