International Graduate Students
More than half of our current graduate community have come to Magdalene from outside the UK, and across the University of Cambridge as a whole there are close to 8000 international students from more than 120 countries.
We are fortunate at Magdalene to have a range of scholarships and bursaries for graduate students, and a number of these are for students from specific countries or parts of the world. These include (although are not limited to) a range of scholarships for students from countries in southern Africa, and partnership funds available to applicants from countries in southeast Asia and North America.
Magdalene is also one of just four Cambridge colleges able to recommend eligible students from southeast Asia for consideration for graduate funding from the Jardine Foundation and it is one of only six Cambridge colleges working in partnership with the Marshall Aid Commemoration Commission, which awards Marshall Scholarships to graduate students from the United States.
Please see the Postgraduate Scholarships and Bursaries page for more detail about the range of scholarships and bursaries available for graduate study at Magdalene, and how to apply for them.
A wealth of additional information about studying at Cambridge as an international graduate students, as well as practical advice about issues such as visas, and academic qualifications, can be found of the Cambridge International Students website as well as on the website of the Graduate Admissions Office.
For new international graduate students arriving at Magdalene, we provide a range of welcome events and orientation activities to help you to settle into the College quickly and comfortably. Many of these are organised by the Middle Combination Room (MCR), the College's central society run specifically for and by our graduate students. A wide range of additional welcome events and support is provided by academic departments, the University's International Students Office, and the Graduate Union.
