Pepys Library

The Pepys Library is one of Magdalene College’s greatest treasures and a rare example of a 17th-century private library.

Open to the public and visiting scholars, it houses the original diaries of Samuel Pepys alongside one of the most significant collections of books, manuscripts, documents, and prints assembled by any private individual.

Visitors can explore the remarkable collection, still preserved in the original oak bookcases designed by Pepys in 1666, and discover the literary and historical gems gathered over his lifetime.
