Tutorial Support

Every student is assigned a College Tutor who is their first point of contact for advice, support, and guidance.

At Magdalene, every student is assigned a College Tutor, a dedicated point of contact for guidance, support, and reassurance throughout their time at College. Tutors come from different academic departments than their tutees, ensuring unbiased advice and a fresh perspective. Their role is to be a trusted advocate, offering help with academic challenges, personal concerns, financial issues, and accommodation matters.

A Supportive and Accessible System

Tutors hold weekly drop-in sessions during term, creating a welcoming space for students to seek advice without an appointment. Support isn’t limited to these times—students can contact their Tutor at any point to arrange a meeting. Undergraduate students meet their Tutor at the end of each term, but many check in more frequently for guidance or simply for a conversation with someone who has their best interests at heart. If a student would feel more comfortable speaking with a different Tutor, they are free to do so.

For accommodation concerns, the Room Tutor is available to provide additional support. Magdalene also has a dedicated pastoral team, including the College Nurse, Chaplain, and members of the Academic Office, all working together to ensure students can access help whenever they need it.

Contacting Your Tutor

Students can find Tutor contact details, meeting times, and pastoral support resources on the Tutors and Pastoral Team page. No matter the challenge, help is always available.
