Prize for Dr Mathias Haeussler

Magdalene Research Fellow Dr Mathias Haeussler has won the 2017 Thesis Prize of the British International History Group.

The Prize, which is given annually, was awarded to Dr Haeussler for his 2016 PhD thesis, entitled ‘Helmut Schmidt and Anglo-German relations, 1974-82’. Dr Haeussler studied for his  doctorate in Cambridge University's Faculty of History.

Mathias Haeussler is a Lumley Junior Research Fellow in History at Magdalene. He works on international history post-1945, with a particular focus on European integration and the Cold War. His current projects include an investigation of the history of John F. Kennedy's concept of an 'Atlantic Community' in the post-war transatlantic relationship, and Elvis Presley's role in the Cold War.
