New Library Grand Opening

His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester KG GCVO officially opened the New Library on Saturday 2 July 2022.

His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester KG GCVO officially opened the New Library at Magdalene College during the grand opening garden party attended by the Master, Sir Christopher Greenwood, former Master, Dr Rowan Williams, several senior Fellows and hundreds of Magdalene Members.

The official opening marked the end of the Future Foundations Campaign after five years and it was a pleasure to welcome over 400 alumni, friends and supporters to celebrate the occasion as well as formally open and introduce the New Library to all present. The College was delighted to welcome Honorary Fellow, Mr Robert Cripps AM (2005), whose initial generous pledge of support gave the College the confidence to create the Future Foundations Campaign, the College’s most ambitious fundraising endeavour in living memory.

We are enormously grateful to all our Members and Friends for their steadfast enthusiastic support and humbled that the global College community came together so that we raised well over £29 million during the Campaign.  These much needed funds have allowed us to support our undergraduate and postgraduate students; to strengthen our teaching and pastoral provision; and to build the RIBA award winning New Library which will stand proud in the Fellows' Garden for hundreds of years to come.
