Year 12 Residential
Each year Magdalene hosts a free three-day two-night residential for Year 12 (or equivalent) state school students in our link areas of North and West Wales and Merseyside.
Participants spend three days living at Magdalene and will participate in lectures, seminars, workshops and practical sessions led by Cambridge academics, as well as spending time with current undergraduate students.
Applicants should be interested in subjects related to Cambridge courses. The residential will give an overview of the subject range available at Cambridge and is a great opportunity to see how subjects are interrelated and crossover, it also allows attendees to investigate a new subject that they may not have considered before.
The residential will run from 3pm on Wednesday 27 March until 3pm on Friday 29 March, depending on term dates this may involve successful applicants missing 2 days of school.
Participants will spend three days living in Magdalene and learning like a Cambridge student. Attendees will participate in lectures, seminars, workshops and practical sessions led by Cambridge academics, as well as spending time with current students.
The residential is free to attend. Attendees will be provided with accommodation and food for the duration of the residential alongside all academic sessions.
Applications will require the support of a current teacher who will be contacted after the application has been submitted.
If successful applicants are required to miss school we will also require signed permission from the school and parent/guardian.
Applications are now closed.
Please answer all questions honestly and in as much detail as possible.
Applicants will be notified by email if an application has been successful (or not), please make sure that you provide a correct and valid email address.
Completion of the application form will not guarantee a place. Previous residentials have been heavily oversubscribed, we regret that not all applications will be successful. Places will be allocated by a number of criteria, with priority given to students in the Magdalene Link Areas of Merseyside and North Wales.
Application for this residential will have no influence on future application to the University of Cambridge.
Closing date: Sunday 10 February 2019, 11.59pm
