Meet the Master: A Conversation with Sir Christopher Greenwood

We are delighted to invite Magdalene Members and friends to a virtual ‘Meet the Master’ event on Friday 16 October at 1.00pm (BST).

The new Master, Sir Christopher Greenwood, will be in conversation with Dr Jane Hughes, President, Fellow and Pepys Librarian of Magdalene. Following on from the conversation, there will be a Q&A session during which attendees will be able to pose their own questions to the Master.

Master

Sir Christopher was a judge at the International Court of Justice, on which he served from 2009 to 2018. Before his election to the ICJ, he was Professor of International Law at the London School of Economics and a barrister who regularly appeared as counsel before many tribunals, including the International Court of Justice, the European Court of Human Rights and the English courts. He is co-editor of the International Law Reports and an Honorary Fellow of the Lauterpacht Institute for International Law (Cambridge). A graduate of Magdalene College where he was also a Fellow and more recently Honorary Fellow, he was the first person in his immediate family to go to university.

Dr Jane Hughes

President

Dr Hughes is the President of Magdalene, as well as the Director of Studies in English and Pepys Librarian. Jane Hughes works on satire, comedy and literary theory. She has edited two anthologies, most recently Contourlines (co-edited with Neil Wenborn), which is a collection of contemporary poetry on the landscape.
