The History-Makers with Richard Cohen (1965)
Members and guests are warmly invited to join Dr Carl Watkins, Fellow and University Reader in History, as he talks to acclaimed author Richard Cohen (1965) on Thursday 17 June from 5.00-6.00pm. Richard will discuss his new book 'The History-Makers' and reveals how historians - and other critical witnesses such as the writers of the Bible, novelists, and political propagandists - influence accepted accounts of the human experience. It is an epic exploration of who gets to write the history books, and how the biases of certain storytellers - from Caesar to Shakespeare to Simon Schama - continue to influence our ideas about history today.
'The History-Makers' is due to be BBC Radio 4's 'Book of the Week' for the week commencing June 28, and we are delighted to have this opportunity to hear about his new work.
This is a virtual event, and registration is required. Please complete the book form at the link below. On completion you will be emailed the information required to attend online.
