Housekeeping
The following statement is based upon UKGOV guidelines for working safely during Covid-19 and lists the intended Housekeeping procedures, initially for the Michaelmas Term 2020, as of August 25th 2020.
All College Members
UKGOV. - It is recommended that more frequent cleaning be carried out of general toilet facilities, entry/exit touch points, communal areas and shared workspaces.
The general use (public) toilets will be cleaned 3 times daily, Monday to Friday and once daily at weekends. The cleaning times will be as follows: (1.) between 7.00am and 9.00am (2.) between midday and 1.00pm (3.) after 4.00pm. At weekends, the toilets will be cleaned between 7.00am and 10.00am.
UKGOV. - set clear use and cleaning guidance for toilets to ensure they are kept clean and social distancing is achieved as much as possible. Staggered use of washroom facilities should also be encouraged.
Detailed cleaning instructions have been provided for all Housekeeping team members and those who will be temporarily taking on additional Housekeeping duties. A signed check sheet system will also be used to monitor the required regular cleaning schedule.
Signage will be displayed directing a maximum occupancy of 1 person at a time to use the facilities to encourage social distancing.
Hand sanitising stations are provided at some entry/exit points around the College and frequent touch points such as entrance door handles will also be disinfected on a daily basis during the week.
Supervision Rooms
Supervision/meeting rooms will be cleaned early am, once daily and the rooms should all be booked out to Housekeeping up to 9.30am daily to allow for unoccupied room cleaning.
A basic cleaning kit will be available in each room to allow for self cleaning in between supervisions. Instructions will be provided on how to use this
Student Accommodation
These are general cleaning instructions for student accommodation areas within College - further cleaning instructions for when students are in quarantine, self-isolation or household isolation are included in the relevant sections of student information on the College website.
Student communal gyps and bathrooms in all College staircases and College houses with 10 rooms and above will be cleaned once daily, Monday to Friday. Housekeeping tasks should be carried out whilst maintaining social distancing which means the communal areas must be unoccupied and signage will be fixed to the door stating the room is not to be entered during the cleaning process.
Student communal gyps and bathrooms in College houses with less than 10 rooms will be cleaned once weekly on a regular scheduled day. The social distancing requirements as stated above will also apply. Cleaning kits will be supplied by the College to enable the student occupants to keep the shared areas clean in addition to the once weekly Housekeeping visit. Information on how to use these products correctly can be found on the College website.
Students with ensuite facilities will be responsible for cleaning their own bathroom. The College will provide you with suitable cleaning materials for the term. Information on how to use these products correctly can be found on the College website.
Please contact the Housekeeping department if you would like further clarification on the cleaning policies mentioned above.
Fellows and College staff areas
Shared bathrooms and gyp rooms used by Fellows will be cleaned once daily, Monday to Friday with the same requirements for social distancing as detailed above in the Students section.
Residential Fellows accommodation will become a self-cleaning procedure with cleaning supplies being provided by the College.
College offices and Fellows day studies used as offices will be cleaned once weekly at a pre-arranged and agreed time and day. Cleaning materials and instructions will also be supplied to allow for additional self cleaning of shared workspaces.
