Returning books if resident in College
As books will auto-renew you will not need to return your loans until you are resident in College again.
If you are currently resident in College and you wish to return a College Library item then please put them in the returns box in the Porters Lodge (next to the printer) or in the dropbox in the New Library building entrance. If you are returning books to the New Library building entrance and you have not booked a study slot please avoid doing so at the start of study sessions (9:30am and 1:30pm) and do not enter the main Library.
Please ensure that you wear a face covering when returning books (or if waiting in the queue), use the hand gel and adhere to social distancing rules.
All returned books will be placed in Quarantine for 48 hours until they are available to borrow again. Please note that this means they may remain on your record for this 48 hour period, if this is stopping you from borrowing further books please contact us email@example.com.
Please return Faculty or University Library books to the University Library or dropboxes on the Sidgewick site.
Returning Books if currently not resident in College
Postal returns (including freepost for 2020 graduates)
Books from all Cambridge libraries (including Magdalene College Library) can be returned to the University Library at:
Reader Services (Book Returns)
Cambridge University Library
This is to allow you to send all your books back in one parcel, whether by post or by courier.
If you are a recent graduate, member of staff or visiting scholar in the UK who has now left the University and are unable to return to Cambridge, you can request a pre-paid returns label to return your books by freepost. Individual parcels must not go above 20kg in weight and must not be larger than L 61cm X W 46cm X D 46cm; you can ask for more than one label if needed.
We would recommend you take a picture of the items you are returning before you send them, for your own records. This would be particularly useful should any parcels be lost or damaged in transit.
