About the Campaign
Future Foundations - The Campaign for Magdalene is a five year campaign aiming to raise £25 million to secure undergraduate bursaries, support graduate students and early career Fellows, build a new College Library and restore the iconic Pepys Building.
Magdalene has thrived on the generosity of supporters over the centuries and more Members and Friends are supporting the College today than ever before. We now want to enrich our estate to ensure that our students have the best possible facilities to succeed. The College’s commitment to academic excellence includes the provision of financial support, the best possible teaching and pastoral care and building a new library.
The building of a new College Library will offer both spacious work areas with excellent IT facilities and the creation of a social hub. Planning permission has been granted for an innovative sustainable building which incorporates a library, archive and gallery whilst remaining sympathetic to the architecture of the College.
Magdalene currently has one of the smallest libraries in Cambridge, and our historic archives are located around the College. The delivery of a new library building has been identified as one of the highest priorities; it's importance to our academic standing, and our ability to continue to attract the best students, cannot be overstated.
Magdalene's ambitions for the Future Foundations Campaign:
- securing our undergraduate bursaries so that everyone able to study at Magdalene can do so undeterred by financial concerns
- supporting our graduate students and early career Fellows in the current difficult financial climate for academic research
- build a new College Library
- conserving our historic estate and restoring the Pepys Building when the new, state-of–the-art library has been built
We believe the Campaign is vital to secure the future foundations for Magdalene and it can only be realised with your help.
