ADMISSIONS ASSESSMENTS ** NEW 2016-17 **
For applicants applying in 2016 for entry in 2017 (or deferred entry in 2018) the University of Cambridge is has instituted new university-wide admissions assessments. These will generally replace college tests and, depending on subject, will be taken either 'pre-interview' or 'at interview'. They will apply applicants in all subjects with the exceptions of Music and Mathematics.
Information on these assesments, their nature (including sample questions), and whether your subject's assessment takes place pre- or at interview can be found here as well as on the individual subject pages on this website. More information can be found on the University's admissions pages.
DO THE NEW STRUCTURES FOR UK A LEVEL STUDY MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO MY CHANCES?
In a word, no! Interviewers for admissions at Magdalene are experienced in selecting candidates with and without modular A levels, including a range of qualifications offered by overseas applicants.
In 2015 Magdalene College admitted 35 people (of our total 107 undergraduate intake) who were not taking modular A-levels. In future years, we expect this number to rise substantially, as all UK schools cease teaching of modular A-levels. We've put this message here as we want to reassure you that your application to Magdalene College will be fairly considered in the normal way no matter what education system your school is using, and no matter what its policy on (for example) the taking of AS-levels half way through your A-level career.
(*For those applicants not taking A-levels or the IB, please see this page for the entry requirements for your particular qualification system: www.magd.cam.ac.uk/intqual )
