The Rev'd Philip Hobday is the College Chaplain and, as well as being responsible for worship in the College Chapel, is concerned with the well-being of all members of the college community, regardless of religious belief and whether they are Chapel-goers or not. He is available each day for any member of the College to come and talk about any matter, or just to provide a smile and a cup of tea!
Before coming to Magdalene, Philip was curate at St Peter-in-Thanet Parish Church in Broadstairs, Kent. He trained for ordination at Ridley Hall in Cambridge while reading Theology at Fitzwilliam College. His academic interests include early church history, the relationship between faith and reason, and the role of Christianity in public life. Previously, he worked for a large church in south-east London and read Modern History at Exeter College, Oxford.
He is married to Hannah, who is also ordained, and in his spare time enjoys reading, walking, cinema, and food and drink.
