Magdalene Student Wins Oxford and Cambridge Club Music Prize
Magdalene College is delighted to celebrate the success of Miss Dani Walker (Music, 2022), who has been awarded the Oxford and Cambridge Club Music Prize. A talented flautist, Dani impressed the judging panel with an outstanding performance, securing one of the most prestigious musical awards available to students of the two Universities.
The selection process for the prize is highly competitive, requiring applicants to submit a recorded performance and personal statement before being invited to audition before a panel of experts. The award acknowledges not only technical excellence but also musicianship and artistic potential. The prize offers a year’s honorary membership and £2,500 credit to use at the Oxford and Cambridge Club in London and Dani will perform in its renowned concert series.
Master of Magdalene, Sir Christopher Greenwood offered his congratulations:
“I am delighted by Dani's success. The competition for this award is always very fierce and it is a tribute to her considerable ability that she was so successful. We are all very proud of the way she is carrying on the College's very strong tradition in music."
Reflecting on the achievement, Dani said:
"I was flattered by the panel's kind comments, and greatly enjoyed meeting them. I feel highly privileged to have the opportunity to perform in October for the members, make use of the club facilities, and get to know other members in the coming year!"
The College extends its warmest congratulations to Dani on this well-deserved recognition and looks forward to following her future success.
