Give as you Earn (GAYE) and Payroll Giving

Give As You Earn

A tax-efficient way of giving directly from your salary.

Give As You Earn (GAYE), also known as Payroll Giving, is a tax-efficient way to donate to Magdalene directly from your salary.

How Payroll Giving Works

Donations are deducted from your salary before tax, meaning your gift goes further:

  • A £1 donation costs just 80p for basic rate taxpayers.
  • Higher rate taxpayers pay only 60p per £1 donated.

Setting Up Payroll Giving

If your employer operates a GAYE scheme, signing up is straightforward:

  1. Contact your payroll department.
  2. Provide Magdalene’s details (Registered Charity Number 1137542) and your chosen gift amount.
  3. Your donation will be deducted from your pre-tax salary and shown on your payslip.

Gift Matching Programmes

Many companies match employee donations to registered charities, doubling the impact of your gift at no extra cost to you. If your employer offers a Gift Matching Programme, your contribution to Magdalene could be significantly increased.
