Areas of Support

Magdalene has thrived on the generosity of supporters over the centuries and more Members and Friends are supporting the College today than ever before.

We are more determined than ever to ensure that our students have the best possible facilities and support to succeed. The College’s commitment to academic excellence includes the provision of financial support, the best possible teaching and pastoral care.

Dias Law Fund

Mr Mickey Dias (1955) was a much-loved figure at Magdalene, he was elected as the College's first Law Fellow in 1955. In Mickey’s memory, the College established the Dias Law Fund to support the full-time Mickey Dias College Lecturer in Law in perpetuity.

Supporting Undergraduates

The Magdalene Undergraduate Bursary Scheme was introduced in response to the higher university fee structure in 2012, financed in the main by Members as committed as we are to the idea that no one should be deterred from studying at Magdalene due to financial reasons.

Student Welfare and Mental Health

Magdalene has always taken great care to provide resources for student welfare, but in recent years new challenges in respect of student mental health have emerged to which the College needs to respond.

Supporting Postgraduates

The financial climate for graduates wishing to pursue further study has become much more challenging. The College created a Hardship Fund for graduate students who run into financial difficulties. This is possible due to the generosity and support of our Members and Friends.

Access and Outreach

Our Access and Outreach programmes, many of which are funded in part by donations from Members, support students through their educational journey. From school visits in younger years to residential programs for Year 12-13 students, we're committed to encouraging the brightest and best to apply.

In these unprecedented and uncertain times we've taken the decision to concentrate on raising funds to help our people, the students, researchers, supervisors and academic staff suddenly facing unexpected and exceptional financial difficulties.
