Affiliated Candidates

Affiliated Candidates Magdalene College does not admit affiliated students in the following subjects: Architecture, Mathematics, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine.

Affiliated students will have or expect to obtain a first class degree at another university or equivalent (eg. applicants with a GPA of around 4.00 who will graduate with honours). Offers to students who are yet to graduate are normally conditional on the final examination result at their previous university.

If their qualifications are recognised, it is normally possible for the College to exempt them from part of the regular undergraduate course. In the case of a three or four-year course, the affiliated student normally joins Year 2. However, in certain subjects the affiliated student may need to take some first year exams.

For example, in Law, affiliated students who wish to practise will take Part Ib and II of the Law Tripos, but they must choose some papers which are also covered in the Ia exams in order to gain exemption from Part I of the English law exams. In English, affiliated students take a two-year Part II which will normally include one paper from Part I.

Candidates for Affiliated places should apply through UCAS and are considered alongside other candidates for our undergraduate course places. Typically they will be invited for interview and assessed alongside our undergraduates and should consult our *undergraduate* application webpages for further information. Magdalene does not consider applications received after the regular deadline, (15th October of the year preceding the one in which the course is due to commence).
