Database Officer
Part Time: 25 hours per week
Up to £21,527 per annum (depending on experience)
The College seeks to appoint a Database Officer to look after, maintain and safeguard the Alumni and Development Office database, Raiser’s Edge. The post holder will work closely with the Deputy Development Director and colleagues in the Regular Giving Team in support of the College’s regular giving programme utilising ‘Vanilla Soft’ for the Telephone Campaign. They will have responsibility for keeping the database up to date; importing data reports, creating queries and reports; providing data information and supporting the office with data as well as occasionally performing other administrative duties in support of the team’s alumni relations and fundraising activities as requested by the Development Director/ Deputy Development Director.
The ideal candidate should be educated to preferably degree standard, but at least A Level standard, with an excellent understanding of English and Maths. You should have extensive experience with relational databases (knowledge of the Raisers Edge database is preferable) and an understanding of Vanilla Soft or comparable software. Ideally, candidates should have an understanding of Alumni relations and fundraising, as well as an understanding of the Collegiate University of Cambridge.
Candidates should have excellent data analysis and outstanding attention to detail and should have strong interpersonal skills and an ability to deal with individuals from all walks of life in a flexible and enthusiastic manner.
The position is part-time, 25 hours a week ideally worked over 5 days, and attracts a salary of £21,200 -21,527 (Magdalene pay scale 27-28) p.a. (dependant on qualifications and experience) and excellent benefits including contributory pension scheme, lunch when in College, 25 days’ holiday (excluding bank holidays), and the use of sports facilities.

Night Porter
Fixed Term: 20 June 2025 to 17 October 2025
£13.37 per hour
Magdalene College wishes to appoint a Fixed Term Night Porter to assist the Head Porter in ensuring the provision of effective and efficient reception and support to students, staff, fellows and visitors. These are varied role that touches all elements of college life.
The main Porters’ Lodge is based in Magdalene Street and is staffed 24 hours per day, 365 days a year. The Porters’ Lodge operates on a shift system of 4 shifts on followed by 4 shifts off.
The Porters’ Lodge is the reception point for visitors and it is essential that our Porters are polite, helpful and welcoming to all who need assistance. This can include external visitors, students in need of support as well as staff and fellows. The Porters’ Lodge is an important part of College life and it is essential that Porters support students during their studies as well as the wider College Community. Applicants must have customer service experience, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate in a courteous, friendly and professional manner. The post holder must also have the ability to remain calm and solve problems in challenging situations and be IT literate.
